Legal instruments can contribute significantly to the implementation of climate policies. There are three main reasons: to pressure the State to comply with the global commitment to cut greenhouse gas emissions; to encourage the production of renewable energy; and to achieve the principles of precaution and of prevention.

To discuss the subject, the Sustainable Future Dialogues project has organized, with the support of iCS and the German Embassy in Brazil, the International Meeting about Climate Litigation on May 9, in Brasilia. Three panels will discuss the international perspectives, the legal instruments in Brazil, and the Brazilian experiences.
