An initiative by Brazilian researchers to develop an action plan for the Brazilian Amazon, the Amazon 2030 project is developing studies between 2020 and 2022 so that the region can reach a higher level of economic and human development and achieve the sustainable use of natural resources by the end of the decade. The first published research is titled “Labor Market in the Legal Amazon – A comparative analysis with the rest of Brazil” and it shows that deforestation and forest degradation do not contribute to the creation of good conditions and income, with important gaps in relation to the rest of the country: in 2019, 6 out of every 10 workers in the Amazon were informal.
