The Mapinguari Institute held a new edition of the meeting that celebrates rural and urban peripheral communities and consistently addresses environmental racism and climate justice in the region

The Black Amazon in Amapá and the celebration of the culture of the rural and urban peripheral communities were the main topics of debate in the last edition of the Amazônia Terra Preta (ATP) event, organized by the Mapinguari Institute in March. Information about environmental racism and climate justice was highlighted in the speech of Hannah Balieiro, the executive director of the Institute, when showing that storm surge, indigenous and quilombola areas are more vulnerable and suffer from climate issues, making the urgency of attending to these spaces a priority, including solutions that the communities themselves are already thinking about.
