A report prepared by Arayara, presented at the Brazil Climate Action Hub, points out the social and environmental liabilities of the coal-fired thermal power plants in southern Brazil, with an emphasis on the city of Jorge Lacerda, in Santa Catarina. At the same time, the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, announced the preparation of an Energy Transition Plan for the state, which includes the end of the use of coal to generate electricity. iCS has committed to support the development of this plan, which should be ready by March 2022.
