In 2015, when countries signed the Paris Agreement, one of the most important definitions was that, every five years, every country should review its NDCs (Nationally Determined Contributions), i.e., examine the reduction of emissions and adaptation/mitigation targets and make them more ambitious. The first year of review is 2020, and Chile was the first country in Latin America to present its proposal, on April 9. In this webinar, Alice Amorim, coordinator of the iCS portfolio of Climate Policy and Outreach, talks to Jenny Mager Santos, Head of the Department of Mitigation and Inventories, Climate Change Division, of the Chilean Ministry of the Environment, to understand how the review process took place and what has changed in the Chilean NDC. Fernanda Viana de Carvalho, Global Policy Manager – Climate and Energy Practice of WWF International, and Oswaldo Lucon, Executive Coordinator of the Brazilian Forum on Climate Change, participated in the discussion as panelists and commentators.
