About 60 municipalities from several Latin American countries gathered together in Buenos Aires for the event “Regional Workshop of Energy Efficiency in Latin American Municipalities,” with the objective of presenting their experiences of energy efficiency. Florianópolis represented Brazil and spoke about the agreement with the CBCS for the execution of the Floripa Efficient City program. This was distinctive because most of the other cities present were not working on energy efficiency in buildings – but with an emphasis on public lighting. “In this way, we were able to show a new possibility and open up a new front to other municipalities in the search for energy efficiency in the cities,” explained Cibele Asmann Lorenzi, an architect and urban planner from the Florianópolis City Hall.
