The Environmentalist Parliamentary Front holds a session about the Brazilian NDC goals and the proposals of the country for the November conference
The challenges of complying with the goals of the Brazilian NDC agreed at COP 26 and Brazil’s proposals for COP 27 were the subject of a session of debates organized by the Environmentalist Parliamentary Front in the Federal Senate. The event was attended by parliamentarians and civil society (Marina Marçal, coordinator of the portfolio of Climate Policy, represented iCS), academia, the private sector and third sector organizations. It was of utmost importance due to the proximity of the Conference on Climate Change, where Brazil will have to respond with respect to the agreed goals and the new proposals that will be submitted for the trajectory of climate neutrality and the decarbonization of the economy.
Senator Fabiano Contarato (PT-ES), who requested the session, spoke about the need to develop a low carbon and profitable agriculture that is in the interests of the rural producers, in order to reduce deforestation.
