On June 10, the Sustainable Future Dialogues launched its 12th edition, the second online, called “Climate Change and Economic Recovery – Proposals for a Green Recovery in the European Union and Perspectives for Brazil.” During the seminar, the post-Covid-19 recovery strategy for the region was debated, at the heart of which is the Green New Deal. This involves extensive investments in manpower qualification, and investments in logistics, green transport, the circular economy and renewable energy, among others.
“The recovery plan turns the immense challenge we face into an opportunity, not only by supporting the recovery but also by investing in our future: the European Green Deal and digitalization will boost jobs and growth, the resilience of our societies and the health of our environment,” declared Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission President.
The webinar also presented information about the strategy of the Brazilian economic recovery, identifying whether there are synergies with the objectives of sustainable development and with the targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions assumed by Brazil internationally.
