A project by Dieese and FUP aims to guarantee fair employability, economic sustainability and support for workers from the sector
The Single Federation of Oil Workers (FUP) and Dieese, in partnership with iCS, organized the “Energy and Work Transition Project in the Oil Sector,” with the aim of contributing to the mobilization and training of workers from the area. The first workshop involving a face-to-face meeting with the directors of FUP and their unions took place in March. The studies will continue until February 2024, based on the oil refining sector – which, incidentally, is already undergoing transformations in order to adapt to the requirements to reduce CO2 emissions in the burning of fuel.
The sector tends to be one of the most impacted in the energy transition process in the productive chain of the sector. The workshop discussed ways to guarantee decent work, social development and economic sustainability for the communities and workers impacted by the transition.
