The publication by SOS Amazônia evaluates the history of environmental governance in the Amazon State
How were public policies in the environmental area developed in Acre from 1988 to 2021? For this question, there are many doubts, and they are answered in a study developed by SOS Amazônia in partnership with iCS. According to the publication, “there was a strategy focused on a process of change in the environmental policies that were in force in the country and in Acre up to December 2018.” The analysis found a tendency to weaken the state action with the dismantling of the administrative structure, reducing the resources and budgets for public policies, making control of the exploitation of the natural resources more flexible and reducing the participation of civil society in the governance of the environmental sector.
