On January 30, the results were released of the economic and environmental impacts of the beef chain in the study “From pasture to plate: subsidies and the environmental footprint of beef,” conducted by the Instituto Escolhas. The work is unprecedented and explains the entire trajectory of cattle, from birth until their arrival on the plate of the consumer in Brazil. Information is provided about how much is collected in taxes, what the subsidies are, and the amount of tax exemption from the State and Federal Governments. From an environmental point of view, for the first time, there is a clear vision of the carbon footprint in a kilogram of beef, through the analysis of the greenhouse gas emissions according to the region, the type of pasture, and the management system. The water consumption from the chain also assesses the water footprint. Read about the study here .
