The Black Coalition for Rights has allocated R$ 200,000 from the campaign “Tem Gente com Fome” [There are people with hunger] to the Hutukara Yanomami Organization in view of the situation of humanitarian catastrophe experienced by the communities of the Yanomami Indigenous Land, due to the neglect by the previous federal government and by the violations caused by the illegal mining that has occupied the region for decades. In January, President Lula visited the Indigenous Land in the company of ministers and stated that he would put an end to the illegal mining.
