Hacking.Rio, which took place on October 18-20, was a great success! The largest digital culture festival in Latin America welcomed over 600 participants in its hackathon and also included lectures and a series of important content for the sector. The 42-hour hackathon gathered development professionals of new technology in order to solve problems such as transport, sustainability, and education in Rio de Janeiro. There were 14 thematic clusters with one finalist from each group and an award of R$ 1,500. In the grand finale, the podium included:

Third Place: R$ 2,500

Rockbase, from the Sport cluster, with an application to facilitate the process of “trials”, which are practice sessions organized by clubs to detect new talent

Second Place: R$ 5,000

My Place Group [Grupo Meu Lugar], from the Tourism and Creative Economy cluster, with an application to connect small lodging establishments in the interior of Rio with guests

First Place: R $ 15,000

Archangel Group [Grupo Arcanjo], from the Health cluster, with a platform to expedite the registration and screening of infant patients by their own parents, on the way to the hospital, by using the WhatsApp messaging app
