Maria Netto arrives to contribute with her 30 years of experience in climate issues.
The Board of Directors of the Instituto Clima e Sociedade (iCS), a leading philanthropic institution that works to advance the climate agenda in Brazil, announces the appointment of Maria Netto as its new Executive Director.
With over 30 years of experience in the climate field, with relevant passages in the UNFCCC, the New Development Bank and the IADB, Maria Netto is an international reference in the climate scene, with deep expertise in sustainable finance.
“It is a great pleasure to welcome Maria Netto to iCS. We are positive that she will represent the strong leadership that is necessary to push the institution to higher levels of scale and impact envisaged by the Board for the next decade”, said Board Chair Ana Yang.
Rodrigo Fiães, who has been acting as temporary Executive Director since February 2023, will stay on until October 2023 to support Maria Netto’s onboarding, before returning to his role as VP of the iCS Board.
Maria arrives at the organization at an important moment of consolidation of iCS’s new operation model. She joins a team of more than 50 professionals working for Brazil to achieve its potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 66% by the end of this decade.
