The Portos e Navios magazine highlighted, in its April issue, the publication “Impact Assessment: mitigation of greenhouse gases (GHG) in order to comply with the target of the International Maritime Organization (IMO),” by the Center of Energy and Environmental Economy (Cenergia) at COPPE/UFRJ, with the support of the Institute for Climate and Society. The study evaluated the possible impacts of global measures of mitigation on the exports of the main Brazilian commodities, and the result is clear: the international efforts to reduce the emissions could affect the competitiveness of Brazilian foreign trade. How much is unknown, and will depend on the measures to be adopted by the IMO in the coming years. The target establishes that, by 2050, the emissions of the member-countries will be reduced by 50% in relation to 2008. Read the full story .
