We have new team members. We recently welcomed three new employees who will work in different areas of the organization. Juliana Luiz will be part of the Department of Institutional Development and Partnerships (PID) and Renata Albuquerque will work with the portfolio of Climate Policy and Outreach and the executive board of the Institute for Climate and Society. Nathalia Paes Leme has been working as a technical advisor at the Institute E+ Energy Transition since December 2019. We would like to use this space to present their professional careers in more detail and to officially welcome them all!

Juliana Luiz has a law degree from UERJ, a degree in history from UNIRIO, a master’s degree in international relations from PPGRI / UERJ and a PHD in political science from IESP / UERJ. She is a researcher at the World Political Analysis Laboratory (LABMUNDO) from IESP/UERJ and International Relations professor at UFRRJ. Academically, she researches themes such as sustainable rural development, foreign policy, international cooperation, transnational actors and international organizations. Professionally, Juliana has already worked as a professor at the Cândido Mendes University (2013-2014) and as a researcher in different sectors of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation – FGV (at the Center for Research in Law and Economics, CPDE (2013-2014); at the Center for International Relations, CRI (2014-2016); and at the Center for Research and Documentation in Contemporary History, CPDOC (2016-2017)). Before joining iCS, she worked as a consultant in the consultancy company Management of Public Interest (Gestão de Interesse Público – GIP), where she worked on projects for strategic and institutional planning, donors advice and developing fundraising strategies. At iCS, she is the new institutional relation advisor, being responsible for the bridge between iCS and funders and for project writing.

Nathalia has a degree in Electrical Engineering and a postgraduate degree in Analysis, Design and Systems Management from the Estácio de Sá University. She also has a BA in Cinema from the Estácio de Sá University and in Astronomy from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She has trainee certification in neurolinguistic programming. She has experience in the management and logistics of technical purchasing, coordination of suppliers, project development, production management and scientific research. At iCS, she works as a Technical Analyst for the Institute E+ Energy Transition and the Kigali Project, advising the Coordination of Communication and Technical Analysis for the E+ Institute.

Renata Albuquerque is PhD in Political Science from the Institute of Social and Political Studies of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (IESP-UERJ). She holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from IESP-UERJ, Bachelor of Social Sciences from UFRJ. She was a visiting researcher at the University of South Africa (UNISA) and the Institute for Global Dialogue (IGD) in 2017. She was a Substitute Professor at Institute of International Relations and Defense from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IRID / UFRJ). Currently, she is a Researcher at Directorate of Studies and Economic Relations and International Politics at Institute for Applied Economic Research (DINTE- IPEA) and at Laboratory of World Political Analysis (LABMUNDO). She is also an International Politics Consultant at Climate and Society Institute. She has been working with the following topics: International Politics, Brazilian Foreign Policy, Energy, Climate Change, International Development Cooperation, South-South Cooperation. Articles and Congresses in Brazil and abroad. At iCS, she is one of the consultants of the Climate Policy and Outreach portfolio. Renata will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing international policy and Brazilian foreign policy issues related to climate change.
