It took a long time but it eventually happened!! Finally, the revision of the MEPS (minimum efficiency performance standards) for air conditioners has been approved. This was the main goal of href=”https://www.cleancoolingcollaborative.org/”> K-CEP in the href=”https://kigali.org.br/”> Kigali Project, which was developed by iCS and a network of partners. Resolution no 1, dated April 29, 2022, determines that the new Program of Goals for Air Conditioners establishes the Minimum Levels of Energy Efficiency in accordance with the table below:

Articles 6 and 7, of the Resolution, also determine that:
Article 6. The evaluation mechanism of the compliance with the minimum levels of energy efficiency of the Air Conditioners referred to in this Program of Goals is the one used for the labeling performed by the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology – Inmetro, through the Brazilian Program of Labeling – PBE.
Article 7. Up to the time of the date established in article 5 for the start of Stage 1, the aforesaid equipment is subject to the minimum levels of energy efficiency established by the Interministerial Ordinance MME/MDIC/MCTIC no 02, dated May 14, 2018.
