With support from iCS, Agroicone and the Brazilian Coalition on Climate, Forests and Agriculture have sent recommendations for the management of the socioenvironmental and climate risk in the agricultural policy

Agroicone has prepared recommendations for improvements to the 2024/2025 Plano Safra (Harvest Plan) and, after debate with contributions from the Green Finance Task Force of the Brazilian Coalition on Climate, Forests and Agriculture, they were sent to the Agricultural Policy Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. With the opportunity of the current efforts around sustainable finance and the debate about taxonomy in Brazil, the entities forwarded suggestions for the management of the socioenvironmental and climate risk in the agricultural policy, such as, for example, the differentiation of producers and the grant of benefits to those who adopt good agricultural and livestock practices, integration between the credit policy and the Forest Code, and the strengthening of risk management instruments combined with rural credit, among others.

Through seven technical notes, the topics covered are: i) management of socioenvironmental risks; ii) Forest Code; iii) family farming; iv) commercial agriculture; v) Constitutional Funds; vi) suggestions to the System of Operations of Rural Credit and Proagro (Sicor); and vii) integrated risk management.
