To develop technical evidence on the interface between food systems and climate, by mapping consumer information mechanisms on the carbon footprint of meat and analyzing its adherence in Brazil, as well as by developing a methodology that allows for the estimation of GHG emissions avoided by the short marketing circuits of healthy and sustainable foods.

Para desenvolver evidências técnicas sobre a interface entre sistemas alimentares e clima, por meio do mapeamento de mecanismos de informação ao consumidor sobre a pegada de carbono da carne e a análise de sua aderência no Brasil, bem como pelo desenvolvimento de metodologia que permita estimar as emissões evitadas pelos circuitos curtos de comercialização de alimentos saudáveis e sustentáveis.

To technically subsidize and qualify the debate on forest carbon projects in Brazil, mainly in the Amazon, on two axes: integrity assessment (bottlenecks in existing methodologies and nesting accounting between project, state and national levels) and participation and incidence of civil society in the main instances of the national and international agenda.

To monitor and to qualify the data on lethal violence and other crimes in the Amazon, understanding that public security policies are essential to the sustainable development of the region. One expects to deepen and to disseminate the understanding on environmental crimes and territorial conflicts that culminate in lethality and other violent crimes that hinder legal activities in the region.

To estimate greenhouse gases emissions (GHG) from food systems in Brazil, detailed by the main sectors – land use change, agriculture, energy, industrial processes and residues. As much as possible, the project will also estimate GHG emission from the key food commodities chains, notably, meat.

To strengthen advocacy and litigation strategies of local civil society organizations from the States of AM, MT, PA, RO, positioning them as guardians of the GHG’s subnational emissions reductions commitments. It will be based on the strengthening of networking in climate litigation and the dissemination of the existing jurisdictional sustainability observatory model in MT to other jurisdictions.
