MapBiomas receives an award considered the most important in this category in the world, during the World Economic Forum
MapBiomas won the Collective Social Innovation Award from the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship at the World Economic Forum in Davos. This is a new category of award for the Social Innovators of the Year, the most important in the area worldwide. It was created in order to provide visibility to innovative models of collaboration and collective impact, which are increasingly more important in social transformation actions.
“This award is for the 250 people, in 14 countries, who are working at MapBiomas and also for the users of the data, who are working with us to build a world where people and nature can prosper together,” explained Tasso Azevedo, the general coordinator of the platform, on receiving the award. In all, 16 initiatives around the world were recognized for their positive impacts. Hilde Schwab, co-founder and president of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, left a message. “The 2023 Social Innovators of the Year represent a generation of leaders of social and environmental change who demonstrate that innovative models of cooperation and action in all sectors are essential in order to advance the complex challenges that we face.”
