The first solar energy cooperative in Brazilian favelas is located in Rio de Janeiro and went into operation in September. The project, by the NGO Revolusar ,in the Babilônia and Chapéu Mangueira communities, installed the 26 kWp system on the roof of the Babilônia Residents Association. It benefits 34 local families with savings on their electricity bills, in addition to generating jobs and an environmental education for children and adolescents in the community. There are more reasons to celebrate in October: on the 20th, Revolusar completes six years of activities and will celebrate at the Intersolar event, in São Paulo. On the 27th, the Brazilian Forum for Sustainable Energy and Social Innovation will be held online and is free of charge.
