The first episode of the special series “The fierce and the enchanted” which narrates the path of how the leaders of the Pareci people came to be in favor of agribusiness, was responsible for the victory
The O Joio e o Trigo podcast won the 40th edition of the Human Rights Award for Journalism in the audio category. The first place went to the opening episode of the special series “The fierce and the enchanted,” a product from the project “The advance of agribusiness and the financial markets on indigenous lands,” which was supported by iCS. With the title “The invention of private property (how inequality is born),” the episode in question narrates how the leaders of the Pareci people became defenders of agribusiness and the former president Jair Bolsonaro. “Our reporters are faced with the advance of an entrepreneurial and individualistic ideology, which sees traditional ways of life as a reason for shame. They reflect on the legal limits of the transformation of indigenous lands into farms,” reports the opening text. Have you listened to the series? It is available here!
