The first edition of the year of the newspaper O Globo, on January 1, 2016, published an article by Ana Toni on the threats posed by climate change in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Among them are heat waves with direct consequences on public health and more frequent torrential rains – which will increase the already high rate of landslides of hills and slopes.

The city tries to do its share to limit the emission of greenhouse gases, by improving public transport and increasing the network of cycle paths. But no one can stabilize the Earth’s climate alone.
