    Cintya has a master’s degree in management, specializing in sustainability, from the São Paulo School of Business Administration at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV EAESP), with research on the adaptation to climate change (2019). She is a specialist in international relations from the University of Brasília (2013), and has a degree in social communication and journalism from the Centro Universitário IESB (2010). She has worked in the planning of actions of coordination and communication in political mobilization, research in sustainability and socio-environmental causes since 2010. At iCS, she is responsible for advising the executive board in the structuring and monitoring of the international strategy of the organization, in order to improve the participation of iCS, the grantees and partners in debates, networks and international events that are relevant to the Brazilian climate agenda.   • Juliana Couto

    Project Coordinator

    With international experience in Europe (France) and in Asia (Sri Lanka), Juliana Couto is an architect and an urbanist, with a postgraduate degree in project management from FGV. Her 31-year career has involved 23 years working with planning, portfolio and project management, integration, strategic planning, structuring and implementation of PMOs, in addition to supporting actions of compliance, ethics, corporate environmental management and sustainability. With PMO-CP – PMO Global Alliance certification and training in Design Thinking, Juliana has coordinated corporate projects and provided a systemic and integrated vision. She has worked as a volunteer, such as in the ‘Rebuild Sri-Lanka’ project, when she participated in four projects for the remediation of the effects of the tsunami in the reconstruction of affected villages.   • Rodrigo Fiães

    Interim Executive Director

    Rodrigo Fiães has been temporarily removed from the position of vice-chair of the Board in order to exercise the role of interim executive director of iCS. Economist with a degree from PUC-Rio and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He was a partner at Gávea Investimentos (2004-15) and has worked in several private and public institutions in the areas of finance, economic research and public policy. Since 2014, he has been dedicated to the 3rd sector. In particular, he has participated in the conception, assembly and start-up of operations for two non-profit civil associations (Instituto Serrapilheira and IEPS).

She has national and international experience in the areas of communication and journalism, with expertise in the development of projects in external communication, internal marketing and media relations. She worked for about 13 years as a reporter, press officer and as an internal communications consultant in Europe and the United States. Thatiana has worked with the monitoring and performance of readings and analyses of materials in the printed and electronic media. At iCS, she is responsible for the internal and external communication of the executive management.

  • Carlos Thadeu

    Innovation and Technology Analyst

    Carlos Thadeu obtained a degree in Computer Networking from the Politécnico da Universidade Estácio de Sá in 2011. He had an internship at the Electronic Computing Center of UFRJ, where he also worked in IT Support for the Network of Computers and Servers in the Engineering Program of Systems and Computing at Coppe, which is one of the largest teaching and research centers for engineering in Latin America. Thadeu is also qualified as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and he has worked for several companies in the technology area. He started working at the Institute for Climate and Society in June 2014 as a service provider and, since August 2022, he has been an Innovation and Technology Analyst of the DIT, at iCS.

    Amanda is a chemical engineer with a degree from Unicamp and a master’s degree in energy planning from COPPE/UFRJ. She has been working for more than 15 years in the Brazilian energy sector, occupying technical and coordination positions in institutions such as the Institute E + Energy Transition, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Petrobras. At iCS, Amanda coordinates the Energy and Amazon initiative, which supports the energy transition in isolated systems and the universal access to clean energy in the Amazon region. She also coordinates the support related to energy efficiency in the Energy portfolio.

He has supported indigenous peoples and organizations from the Brazilian Amazon at the Instituto Socioambiental (ISA). In addition, he managed ABN-AMRO Bank’s corporate digital channel operations until 2005. Gustavo was also a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Ministry of Culture and the São Paulo transportation department. At Idec, she also coordinated several initiatives in the environmental area, such as the international campaign for Green Action Week and extensive market research on greenwashing. At iCS, she works as an advisor of the Programmatic Direction and is responsible for supporting the management activities of the department.

    Marcel has a degree in architecture and urbanism from the University of São Paulo (USP), and a master’s degree in land planning and management from UFABC. From 2009 to 2016, Marcel worked on the development of transport studies, including master plans and mobility. From 2016 to 2018, he worked at IEMA in the management and technical coordination of the products established in the program of low carbon urban mobility. At iCS, he coordinates the transport portfolio, monitoring projects related to urban mobility, promoting knowledge and the discussion about transport economy. He also explores the interfaces between air quality and health with transport policy and technology.

    Paula has a degree in environmental management (ESALQ-USP), a master’s degree in economic development (UNICAMP) and a postgraduate qualification in the collaborative management of socio-ecological systems in the Brazilian Amazon (University of Florida / UNEMAT).     Marisa has a degree in social communication, specializing in journalism, from FACHA. She has post-graduate qualifications in project management from the School of Engineering at UFF, and in business communication, at the Cândido Mendes University. Her professional experience includes working as a communications manager at Apex, linked to the MRE, where she implemented the strategic international communication to the United States, the European Union, and China. She reformulated the processes of internal communication and digital communication, as well as coordinating the press support team. Marisa also worked for the candidature, and subsequently for the organizing committee, of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.     Silvia has a degree in industrial engineering from UFRJ and systems analysis from PUC-RJ. She recently obtained the ABPMP (Association of Business Process Management Professionals) international certification and the ITIL v3 Foundation certification. She has worked in IT at large telecom companies and in consulting for 20 years, including at Telemar/Oi and at Maxprocess Consulting, where she was responsible for the specification of new systems, project management and optimizing businesses processes for clients. Prior to her position at iCS, she was responsible for institutional processes, grants and contracts, consolidating data and IT management at LARCI Brazil. At iCS, she manages the operations and guarantees their compliance with the internal policies and procedures of the institute, monitoring the projects financially and supporting the grantees in the administrative aspect of the grants.
