  • Cintya Feitosa

    Specialist in International Strategies

    Cintya has a master’s degree in management, specializing in sustainability, from the São Paulo School of Business Administration at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV EAESP), with research on the adaptation to climate change (2019). She is a specialist in international relations from the University of Brasília (2013), and has a degree in social communication and journalism from the Centro Universitário IESB (2010). She has worked in the planning of actions of coordination and communication in political mobilization, research in sustainability and socio-environmental causes since 2010. At iCS, she is responsible for advising the executive board in the structuring and monitoring of the international strategy of the organization, in order to improve the participation of iCS, the grantees and partners in debates, networks and international events that are relevant to the Brazilian climate agenda. She coordinates the operation of the Brazil Climate Action Hub, which is a space for civil society that was created for COP25, in Madrid, and which had its second edition at COP26, in Glasgow.

  • Juliana Couto

    Specialist in Institutional Governance

    With international experience in Europe (France) and in Asia (Sri Lanka), Juliana Couto is an architect and an urbanist, with a postgraduate degree in project management from FGV. Her 31-year career has involved 23 years working with planning, portfolio and project management, integration, strategic planning, structuring and implementation of PMOs, in addition to supporting actions of compliance, ethics, corporate environmental management and sustainability. With PMO-CP – PMO Global Alliance certification and training in Design Thinking, Juliana has coordinated corporate projects and provided a systemic and integrated vision. She has worked as a volunteer, such as in the ‘Rebuild Sri-Lanka’ project, when she participated in four projects for the remediation of the effects of the tsunami in the reconstruction of affected villages. She has been at iCS, since November 2022, as a project coordinator for the executive board. She participates in the strategic planning and the integrated operational transition plan of the Institute.

  • Maria E. Netto de A. C. Schneider

    Executive Director

    The new Executive Director of the Instituto Clima e Sociedade, Maria Netto, came from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where she acted as the main specialist. Both at the IDB and at the New Development Bank, where she was head of the financial institutions division, she worked on the development of innovative financing programs and strategies with local financial institutions and capital markets to promote private sector investment in low-carbon and resilient projects. Previously, Maria worked at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), where she was responsible for overseeing global projects to help countries assess investment and financial flows and policy options for integrating green business into different sectors and economic activities. She has also served for more than 10 years at the Secretariat of the Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), where, among others, was responsible for leading the institution’s work on bilateral and multilateral financial cooperation, and for evaluating and monitoring investments and financial flows to address climate change and the development of carbon market mechanisms under the Kyoto Protocol. She holds a master’s degree in economics from the Institute of International Studies in Geneva.

    Amanda is a chemical engineer with a degree from Unicamp and a master’s degree in energy planning from COPPE/UFRJ. She has been working for more than 15 years in the Brazilian energy sector, occupying technical and coordination positions in institutions such as the Institute E + Energy Transition, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Petrobras. At iCS, Amanda coordinates the Energy and Amazon initiative, which supports the energy transition in isolated systems and the universal access to clean energy in the Amazon region. She also coordinates the support related to energy efficiency in the Energy portfolio.

He was a co-founder of Estrategia Brasil and a columnist for CBN radio. He is dedicated to techniques of research and social listening for campaigns involving causes. At iCS, he coordinates the Communication and Outreach Portfolio, which has the objectives to promote the capacity of campaigning, communication and outreach of civil society organizations in the socioenvironmental field. The aim is to mobilize the Brazilian population around key themes involving the climate issue in Brazil and, in particular, issues related to the Amazon.

    Project Analyst

    Ana Julia has a degree in International Relations from PUC-Rio and has an additional qualification in Management and Evaluation of Public Policies from the same institution.     Climate Policy, Institutions and Law Manager

    Caio is a lawyer with a law degree from the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), a master’s degree in law and development from the São Paulo Law School at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV-SP) and a doctorate in philosophy and the general theory of law from the University of São Paulo (USP). He was the coordinator of the programs of business, human rights, development and socio-environmental rights at Conectas Human Rights (2014-2019). During his master’s degree, he was a lecturer in sustainability management and was a researcher at the Center for Human Rights and Companies at FGV-SP. Before joining the third sector, he worked in the private financial sector. He has 10 years of experience in sustainable finance, companies and human rights and international development. He is a non-resident fellow of the Center for BRICS Studies at Fudan University (China) and the Center for Studies on Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean at the O.P. Jindal Global University (India). At iCS, he coordinates the law and climate portfolio, which aims to work with the Brazilian justice system to act proactively and assertively in the implementation of the Paris Agreement.

She was the Manager of Green Finances at the Sustainable Rural Project – Bioma Cerrado for the Brazilian Institute of Development and Sustainability and a coordinator of the program for Young Sanitation Professionals at the Brazilian Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering – ABES, in Rio Grande do Sul. She taught at UERGS/Tapes in the discipline of the Management of Protected Areas and in the Integrated Technical Course of the Environment at IFRS/ Campus Bento Gonçalves. At the Brazil Climate Center, she worked as an Institutional Manager. She was also an Advocacy and Climate Justice Analyst at the Climate Reality Project Brasil, coordinating paradiplomacy strategies and supporting and promoting climate change policies.     Frederico has an honor’s degree in Forest Engineering and a master’s degree in the Ecology of the Amazon and Natural Resource Management. He worked at WWF Brazil for almost 10 years (2014-2023) and headed the Zero Deforestation team – with 8 national and
    international strategies – and coordinated different multisectoral collectives, for example: the Rio Food Vision of the 2016 Olympics, the Cerrado Soy Working Group (GTC), and the Working Group of the Forest Code for the Brazilian Coalition on Climate, Forests and
    Agriculture. Previously, at IUCN (2008- 2014), he was the coordinator of the Amazon Office and the Program Officer for Brazil. At the beginning of his career, when working for the NGO PESACRE, Frederico had the opportunity to reside for four years in the forest, living
    with traditional communities in the Amazon. He concluded this period with the publication of a book that deals with one of the central themes of the bioeconomy; the community management of products from the socio-biodiversity. Frederico lives in Brasília, where he
    works as a volunteer to support families led by women in socially vulnerable situations. He is passionate about nature and has always been linked to conservation and sustainable development, as well as the defense of the rights of the indigenous peoples and traditional

    Specialist in Land Use and Sustainable Agriculture

    Helena is an environmental manager and has a master's degree in applied ecology from the University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP). After graduation and during her master's degree, she worked on the evaluation of payment mechanisms for environmental services and the management of water resources. She has 14 years of experience in the socioenvironmental area and for nine years she has been dedicated mainly to the sustainability of production chains and food systems. She has worked and developed projects in the most diverse chains (from agricultural commodities to socio-biodiversity products and community forestry management) and in all the regions of the country. As a consultant, she has worked with verifications and appropriateness to standards of sustainability and the certification, analysis, construction and implementation of strategies for sustainability in these chains. She has also been involved with initiatives focused on the strengthening of socio-biodiversity chains and grassroots organizations, participatory planning, tools for traceability and incentives for good social practices, the reduction of deforestation and forest restoration. She also has experience with third-party evaluations of socioenvironmental projects, especially jurisdictional climate strategies. In 2017, she was a Fellow of the Community Solutions Program, which is a U.S. Department of State program. At iCS, she is a specialist in Land Use and Sustainable Agriculture.

    Helena Gonçalves

    Specialist in Land Use and Sustainable Agriculture

    Helena is an environmental manager and has a master's degree in applied ecology from the University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP). She is currently studying for a doctorate in politics at the Institute of Social and Political Studies at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (IESP-UERJ).     Larissa Linder

    Specialist in Knowledge Management

    She has a degree in Journalism from UFSC, studying for her final year at UFRJ, and is a postgraduate student in Sustainability at Insper. She has worked in the editorial departments of the newspapers O Estado de S. Paulo, Diário Catarinense, as well as Deutsche Welle Brasil (Germany). Working as a reporter, she mainly wrote about economics, politics and the environment, having contributed to publications such as UOL, The Intercept Brasil and De Olho nos Ruralistas. She has also worked in public relations and institutional communication, both in the public (Artesp) and private (Banco BTG Pactual) sectors. From 2020 onwards, she began working in the area of ​​communications and has been focused on sustainability, a topic with which she has been fascinated from the beginning. At iCS, she is a Specialist in Knowledge Management.

    Marisa has a degree in social communication, specializing in journalism, from FACHA. She has post-graduate qualifications in project management from the School of Engineering at UFF, and in business communication, at the Cândido Mendes University. Her professional experience includes working as a communications manager at Apex, linked to the MRE, where she implemented the strategic international communication to the United States, the European Union, and China. She reformulated the processes of internal communication and digital communication, as well as coordinating the press support team. Marisa also worked for the candidature, and subsequently for the organizing committee, of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. As communications manager, she headed the strategic communication plan – which involved five years of work until the Games began, and then the communication of Casa Brasil for the London Olympic Games. She was an observer at the Olympic Games in London (summer) and Sochi (winter) for the press operation and relations. She has also worked for the Consórcio Estreito Energia (CESTE), in the construction of the Estreito hydroelectric plant, in Maranhão, where she managed the press support teams, events, communication with impacted communities and internal communications.     Carlos Thadeu obtained a degree in Computer Networking from the Politécnico da Universidade Estácio de Sá in 2011. He had an internship at the Electronic Computing Center of UFRJ, where he also worked in IT Support for the Network of Computers and Servers in the Engineering Program of Systems and Computing at Coppe, which is one of the largest teaching and research centers for engineering in Latin America. Working for over 20 years in managerial positions, she has carried out important projects such as the development of a business intelligence platform for revenue recovery at Intelig. She received an award from the publication B2B Magazine in recognition of the quality of this project. As an integral member of the strategic committee of Intelig, she participated in the structuring and implementation of IT governance, having served as an interface with the various departments of the company. More recently, she headed the Information Technology area at Conspiração Filmes.     Christian Basilio Oliveira has a degree in Public Management from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He has worked for more than 4 years in social projects and consulting and has extensive experience with Data Science, Business Intelligence, Political and Public Analysis and Georeferencing, in the public, private and third sector.

    He has actively participated in social movements that seek the promotion of more accessible public policies in favelas and peripheral areas. At iCS, his work involves the evaluation and analysis of data together with the coordination of the planning, evaluation and learning area.

She became involved with the Third Sector in 2010, when she decided to devote her career towards positive social impact causes. She has accumulated an extensive experience in the administrative and financial area of social organizations, and has specialized in philanthropy management and the management of funding with incentives. She has had the opportunity of contributing to renowned organizations, including the Roberto Marinho Foundation and Sitawi, where her work played an important role in the achievement of the objectives of these institutions. At iCS, she is working as a grant management analyst guaranteeing the conformity with the internal policies and procedures of the institute.
